My New Project - Building a Hexacopter!

My HexaCopter!!

I started on this project since I found out that it can be controlled by an Arduino! I've been obsessed with the Arduino for quite some time now, and this is the perfect project to bring it to a new height!(Literally!)

Check out this video! My first outdoor flight test!

This project uses an Arduino board "MultiWii Pro" Find out about MultiWii here
This was really a crash-course for me, from researching to buying the parts, building and programming it, all took less than a hundred hours!

That was the building part, learning how to control it is another is another science by itself. I started out with this mini quadcopter from RC Logger, using it to learn flying before I move on to crash my Hexacopter...

Mounted a mini camera on it, flying these are fun! Isn't this cute?

Now back to my Hexacopter!

HexaCopter(6 blades) running on MultiWii code with 3-Axis Gyro, Accelerometer, Barometer (senses height), Magnetometer (senses direction), GPS with altitude hold, position lock, waypoint missions and "Return-To-Home"(RTH) function.

All it means is that it balances itself and knows where it is on the global map using the onboard "Global Positioning System"(GPS), allowing it to navigate itself out or return home without much user input.

I'm experimenting it with codes outside of the MultiWii, so I have 2 flight controller on board. In case my codes doesn't work, I can switch to the second one (KK Flight Controller) and still flies it!

I haven't mount it yet, but I also got myself a 1000mW video transmitter so that I can fly "First-Person-View (FPV)! With a video goggle, you can feel as though you are onboard the aircraft!

If you're interested in the Arduino, wanting to get started or just curious about what an Arduino is, join this forum! It's a Singapore based Arduino community! Or just "like" this Facebook page!

Till later...

Shows, shows and shows :-)

Skipped NDP rehearsal today due to a full day of shows.. Anyway our item is in good hands with Chermaine and Jia Hong who are the key people behind our item.. The whole item wouldn't happen without their help! My heroes!!

Jia Hong

Chermaine :-)

Ran 4 shows today :-) met many interesting people!

"H" the juggler! Working hard along orchard road! I remember those days, many many years back when we used to hang out every week at youth park, juggling together! He has improved sooo much while I haven't been practicing for a while hee.. H was busking along Orchard, and I could see him hard at work from where I was performing.. I've always admire buskers, to survive on the street means you really have to be good, and if you can entertain people on the street, you can entertain anybody! The street is the best teacher, where the toughest performers stands! I had a few years busking experience when I first started out.. When vivien encouraged me.. It was a great fun and an amazing experience! I would love to have a go at it again if I've got the time!

Entertaining guests at Sony Style @ Wisma! Despite so many things going on with me right now, my first passion is still performing! Really enjoyed working at Sony Style, everybody there were so nice to me, and the audience are so appreciative!

Met Danny Yeo again during my night shows! Haven't seen him for quite a while!

Joseph Then! Been sharing the stage with him for the past few shows! He is soooo good! Really admires his talent! His ventriloquist show is sooooo original and funny! I had hell of a good time laughing non-stop at his funny antics! Really inspiring! Check out his website here! http://www.themagicavenue.com/

After my last show at Kreta Ayer, I went to visit this little magic store right opposite the stage, run by a nice lady from China!

It was quite interesting when I first stumble upon the shop months ago. She was showing me magic when I suddenly noticed a poster of me, right behind her! She actually printed it out from the net and pasted on her wall! I pointed it out and soon we were laughing at idea of it! Haahaa

Anyway, if you are around Chinatown area, be sure to visit her store with many interesting magic props! It is just along the street beside the "Buddha Tooth Relic Temple"

Mom's off day!

Today is my Mom's off day, wanted to bring her to universal studios. But when we reached there, the tickets are already sold out, what a bummer! I've been to Universal Studios 7 times! This is the first time it's sold out, and it's a Monday! Guess school holidays really made a difference..

So I brought her for buffet lunch, then a movie instead!

Watched Toy Story 3 in 3D! Loved it!

Voyage De La Vie!

Jeffrey Tan, choreographer of Voyage de la Vie, and of course the chief choreographer of NDP invited me tonight to watch the preview of Voyage De La Vie! A permanent show in resort world sentosa, opening for public next week.

It was an EXCELLENT EXCELLENT SHOW!! So many of the beautiful scenes in the show brought me to tears, and the attention to the smallest details, really impressed and inspired me..

Backstage with William Philip McKinley, the director of voyage de la vie!

Taken weeks ago, before the theatre was fully built..

Jeffrey Tan, and Jane!

Seated behind the director, and production team's table! Amazing view to see the show and also partly behind the scene.. :-)

The show is simply amazing and breathtaking!

One thing that happened during the show inspired me a lot! During the rope acrobatic act, one of the two safety wire for the acrobat got stuck and couldn't come down. She unhooked her only safety line, and risked her life so that the show can go on.. It was amazing, such professionalism brought me tears..

Which reminds me of an incident that happened when I watched cirque du soleil's Saltimbanco when it was in Singapore many years ago. The whole show was perfect except when during one act, the hula hoop lady dropped a hoop.. Don't get me wrong, it was a GOOD drop! Not because it was graceful or anything, but that particular drop woke me up to realize how PERFECT the entire show was! When the lady dropped the hoop, I suddenly realized.. Gosh, they are just human, like the rest of us... If it wasn't for the drop, we would have taken the show for granted and just lost into the world without realizing how perfect it was.. It was an amazing feeling!

Anyway, Voyage De La Vie is running for two years at Resort World Sentosa.. Please please DON'T MISS IT!!

Rehearsal with Xiangzhi

Directed Xiangzhi's show for his Singapore Poly event called Robocup, a robotic tornament.

Xiangzhi's gonna make a robot vanish, and make the host appear! He's a fast learner and picked up the choreography real fast! He has a bright future ahead!
